#244 Seaport Village
Just steps from Downtown, Seaport Village is an eating, shopping and entertainment district along the Bay of San Diego. The village contains an original hand-carved carousel build in 1895. A short walk away stands the iconic 'Unconditional Surrender' sculpture by John Seward Johnson II depicting a sailor returning home to his girl. Nearby is the 'National Salute to Bob Hope & The Military' memorial by Eugene Daub & Steven Whyte where views of the bay make for a peaceful stroll.
#72 Wrigley Botanical Garden
The Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden is a 38 acre garden on the edge of Avalon on Santa Catalina Island. It is a memorial for William Wrigley Jr., famous Chicago chewing gum tycoon. He purchased most of the island in 1919 and dreamed up a vacation spot and focused efforts on island preservation. The gardens showcase endemic plants found only on California's Channel Islands and was conceived by Wrigley's Wife Ada. The memorial was designed by Bennett, Parsons & Frost famous for Buckingham Fountain in Chicago. Though no longer buried here, the Gardens & Memorial are filled with Wrigley's Spirit.
#48 Mount Soledad
Mount Soledad, with its elevation of 824 feet, is one of the best spots to view a panorama of San Diego. The Mount is also a Veterans Memorial paying tribute to those who have served our country. Views of La Jolla, the Coast and Downtown San Diego are magical here. Dr. Seuss' last home is also located on the slopes of Mount Soledad.
