3111 Sandstone Peak
The Lost Log at 3111 Sandstone Peak exhibits photographs and writings from one of the most epic hikes in Southern California. This highest peak, located in the stunning Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, soars three thousand, one hundred and eleven feet in the sky. The result? Breathtaking views of The Pacific Ocean, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Los Padres National Forest, Simi Hills, Conejo & San Fernando Valley's, Angeles National Forest, Rancho Palos Verdes, The Oxnard Plain and The Channel Islands.
There are many trails that curve to the top making it a great hike for any skill level. Once atop, one is encouraged to scribe a message in the journal. These messages create unity among humanity and awaken the Spirit of the Native Chumash who call this special land home.
This book photographically documents my hikes to the top. A sunny, clear Summer, the changing colors of Fall to the dramatic cloud blanketed vistas revealed after a December rain, and an endless sunset across the ocean are the focus. As these views continue to be challenged by smog and other environmental causes, I want this book to be a reminder that we need to take full advantage of the beauty we see around us now.
